TypeDB Studio is now in your browser

Explore knowledge graphs, design schemas, and write queries—now in your browser.

Cal Hemsley

Explore knowledge graphs, design rich schemas, and write expressive queries—now instantly accessible in your browser.

We’ve rebuilt TypeDB Studio from the ground up. Previously only available as a desktop app, Studio now runs directly in the browser; no install, no barriers, just seamless access to a powerful way to model and query data.

What’s new in TypeDB Studio

Web-based access

You can now work with TypeDB directly in your browser, allowing you to develop and manage your database wherever you are, whatever device you are on.

That’s great for getting started and for those who aren’t easily able to setup a development environment on their machines. For analysts, product managers, engineering leadership, and other members of the team, it makes learning and working with TypeDB much more accessible.

It also supports rapid workflows, live exploring your schema and data, demonstrations, and quick evaluation.

  • Connect instantly to your database in the Web Studio
  • The new Studio works on any OS with a (mainstream) modern browser

Significant upgrade to speed and clarity

We’ve brought in a new design language that surfaces the most important actions as clearly as possible. This is based on the feedback from working with many power users and new explorers alike, to understand how they want to interact with our database.

  • Faster loads times and improved performance
  • Greater capabilities in schema editing and query execution
  • New history panel to review prior transactions

We want to make it as frictionless as possible for you and your team to work with TypeDB.

Upgraded graph visualisation

Data visualisation is an integral part of working with a database, and we’ve leaned in to launch our new TypeDB visualiser. This is going to be a rapidly evolving segment to let you get straight in to explore your schema and data, and make it very easy to showcase to other members of your team, or even externally.

  • More intuitive rendering of entities and relationships
  • Enhanced navigation through complex graphs
  • Responsive controls for exploring queries and data paths

Why does this matter?

Making TypeDB accessible through the browser aligns with our core mission; building tools that let you express and reason about complex domains more naturally.

Data modelling is typically abstract, dense, and tool-heavy. We think it should be visual, expressive, and lightweight to start, and stay that way as you scale. This release makes it easier than ever to explore TypeDB’s unique capabilities – from expressive schema design to logical inference.

Try it now

If you are new to TypeDB, head to TypeDB Cloud to create your first database and connect  instantly to our Studio.

Otherwise, head to Web Studio to begin modelling in moments!
