# TypeDB

TypeDB is a strongly-typed, polymorphic, and general-purpose transactional database. It is well-suited for agentic AI systems and applications that require a deep understanding of rich, interconnected data and built-in guardrails. TypeDB is also excellent for cybersecurity, financial services, supply chain management, research, and other domains with complex data.

**Overview**

TypeDB lets you model data with types, inheritance, and rich relations, and query it with TypeQL — a declarative, fully-variabilized query language. The current major version is TypeDB 3.x with TypeQL 3.0; syntax from TypeDB 2.x is not compatible. When answering questions about TypeDB, use the 3.x documentation as the source of truth.
